The Onion has a hilarious “American Voices” on the recent news about emissions:
Global greenhouse gas emissions saw their biggest single-year jump ever between 2009 and 2010, exceeding worst-case scenario projections with an increase of 564 million tons. What do you think?
Yes, “Strong-Nitric Operator” is a real job.

Language Intelligence: Lessons on persuasion from Jesus, Shakespeare, Lincoln, and Lady Gaga

While we may all find this humorous, chuckling to our selves and reaffirming our own superiority, I don’t believe that it makes a bit of difference to the average voter.
As I follow the OWS movement, I shudder every time I listen to a slimy Newt recite his mantra about those people who don’t understand that those against whom they are protesting are paying the taxes that allows these poor deluded folks to not have a real job. Of course, those against whom they protest frequently do not pay those taxes either.
Or Sen. Kyl on Face the Nation who said that they “don’t understand” how the free enterprise system works. Maybe, we understand all too well how the system really works and why, even though he is not running for re-election, Sen Kyl can be a climate denier because he does not understand how the climate system works. If Arizona is going to choose another Republican it makes me wish for a return of Barry Goldwater, who at least understood that Conservative and Conservation were similar concepts.
Pretty good article–most from the Onion usually are. Also, a little off-topic from the article, but rather scary to see how many climate experts there are among conservatives on the street who think nothing is wrong and climate change is all blown out of proportion.
The Onion is years behind the leading edge on this one. For several years now on a political board known unofficially as DU there has been a related joke.
“Nobody ever expects faster-than-expected when it comes to Climate Change.” When Climate news regularly pops out the now cliched “Global Warming effect X is appearing 20 years before IPCC model estimates” the joke is deployed.
“Well”, they say, “It’s another shocking case of faster-than-expected.”
