Enbridge Shuts Down Tar Sands Pipeline After Deadly Spill And Fire |
A major tar-sands pipeline spilled thousands of gallons of oil and caught fire after a deadly car crash in Illinois on Sunday. Enbridge’s 318,000 barrel a day Line 14/64 pipeline has been shut down for at least four days, disrupting the flow of Canadian oil from Wisconsin to Indiana. The crash and ensuing fire killed two and injured three. Enbridge is trying to build a tar sands pipeline to the west coast of Canada for export to Asian markets.
