Fox’s Neil Cavuto: Epic Heat Wave Means We Should Drill For More Oil

"Fox’s Neil Cavuto: Epic Heat Wave Means We Should Drill For More Oil"

By Brad Johnson, campaign manager of Forecast the Facts

On Fox Business Network this Tuesday evening, Neil Cavuto argued that we should respond to the deadly heat wave that is gripping the nation by drilling for more oil:

It is hot and I’m bothered. Nothing like a heat wave to burn my energy butt. This country is roasting, screaming for energy and we’re still blocking so much energy. We’ve got no drilling, just spending more green on green that invariably comes up red.

In fact, U.S. oil production is at its highest level in a decade!

Watch it:

“Climate science is in shambles,” claimed fellow FBN anchor David Asman, who has compared climate scientists to Hitler. “In fact, it’s been cool for the past couple of years.”

“The longer this [heat wave] drags on, the more the issue of climate change will be raised,” moaned Cavuto.

“A very very shaky science is being used to formulate public policy.” concluded Asnan. “Thank you, David ‘Brainiac’ Asman,” replied Cavuto, before turning to a “Fox Body Alert” on swimsuit model Kate Upton.

Aw, the propagandabot is hot and bothered. Well take your bribes and buy yourself another bottle of Hatorade to cool down.

  2. with the doves says:

Been so cool the last couple of years, yeah …. ????

As their moral exemplar, A.H, that well-known Rightwing German politician (much admired by the Anglosphere Right)observed, when telling a lie, tell a Big One, because honest folk will doubt that anyone would have the audacity to lie so shamelessly. Shame, conscience and guilt have never been known anywhere in Murdoch’s Evil Empire.

Cavuto is a pathetic clown who panders to the right wing nuts over at FOX- he must be having nightmares at night- he probably knows in his feverish mind that the second American Gilded Age/Robber Baron era is about over.

  4. Jim Pettit says:

C’mon, level with us; that was actually a very well done parody from Stewart’s The Daily Show, right? After all, no credible major news network would dare intentionally put two such vacuous people on the air, would it?

“After all, no credible major news network would dare intentionally put two such vacuous people on the air, would it?”

You DO remember Jon Stewart’s visit to Crossfire, right?

It’s been glaringly obvious for a VERY long time that the only credible sources of news are the BBC and the Jon Stewart + Stephen Colbert team.

Yes, the “news” show lead in by puppets making crank calls (that was the schedule when Jon Stewart visited Crossfire) is a more trustworthy source of news than any major american’t media outlet… and Jon doesn’t even make any pretense about being a journalist, because he’s a comedian.

I respect comedians, so don’t get me wrong when I say this:

In a nation where the only “journalist” that you can trust to deliver actual news is in reality a COMEDIAN, the nation’s pucked beyond redemption.

      • Mulga Mumblebrain says:

Rakesh, if you find the BBC ‘credible’, then I have an Opera House in Sydney that you might like to purchase-going cheap.

  5. The rule for propaganda is to have at least a touch with reality. This completely misses.

America used to have very classy and slick propaganda – the best was Frank Capra’s WW2 piece “Why We Fight”

But this is so outrageous that it crosses into crazy ranting – completely losing it’s role of influencing opinion.

    • Mulga Mumblebrain says:

It’s not meant for you. It’s fodder for ‘crazy ranters’, ie the Right, proliferating like maggots on the decaying body of ‘Western Civilization’.

  6. G Ennis says:

I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that a media outlet would allow such ignorant commentators to broadcast such nonsense or that millions of people are willing and eager to tune in to such an outlet to obtain their news and facts.

  7. Tom L says:

“we’re still blocking so much energy”

Yes you are Neil. Thanks for your candor.

  8. Jan says:

    He obviously is NOT Jewish.

A typical Koch Roach who scurries under half-truths and lies for a buck. Woe to his soul.

Isn’t it amazing that you can dress a guy in a nice suit, nice tie, glasses (indicating he reads) and SHAZAM he is someone to listen to? What contempt for the American people, their children, their homes….

  9. Solar Jim says:

Orwell would be impressed by their propaganda performance. It is evidently in support of the ascendant, metasticised fossil-fissile-financialized global fascist state (of the rich).

  10. Chris Winter says:

Lies and idiotic statements from beginning to end. Did you catch that bit from Asnan (at about 3:30) about some entrepreneur in Detroit who came up with a way to treat coal so it burns cleaner than natural gas?

    ¡Mirabile dictu!

    • Mulga Mumblebrain says:

Magical, wishful, thinking. You’re a resident of the reality-based world, whereas the Rightwing power elite are so deranged by their power to influence, intimidate or obliterate that they really imagine themselves to be beyond mere reality. Hubris in great men is tragic- in insects it is contemptible and risible. Nemesis need hardly stoop to squash these bugs, it belittles her-but she will.

  11. M Tucker says:

Is that guy’s name Asnan or Asman (spelled both ways above). I’d like to think it is Asman but I don’t watch Fox so I have no idea.

Fox is not interested in informing anyone, not even their devoted viewers. They are only interested in stirring up fear, anger and hatred. This episode is nothing more than an attack on renewable energy, the Obama administration and climate science.

You might think Fox would be interested in celebrating all the jobs created by the new US oil and gas boom but that is not their intent. Oil and gas drilling is booming across the lower 48 and the fossil fuel barons are a long way from being done.

    From today’s Minnesota Daily:

“There is an entirely new reality with U.S. energy production, consumption and imports. New oil and gas supplies are emerging, and fossil fuel demand is being limited by conservation and efficiency. It is too soon to talk of energy independence, but oil imports are declining to the point that most of our oil need could soon be met from friendly Western Hemisphere sources.

As Daniel Yergin noted recently in The New York Times, “What is striking is this great revival in oil and gas production in the United States, with wide impacts on jobs, economic development and the competitiveness of American industry.”

That’s the old fashion kind of American excellence that you might think Fox would latch onto but, as I said, Fox is not interested in informing anyone.
