June Through August Was Warmest Period For Global Land Temperature Ever Recorded | The average global land surface temperature between June and August of 2012 was the warmest ever recorded, according to data from the National Climatic Data Center. The three month period saw an average land temperature that was 1.03°C (1.85°F) above the 20th century average.
When factored with ocean surface temperature, the average global temperature between June and August was the third warmest in recorded history, coming in at 0.64°C (1.15°F) above the 20th century average.
This follows a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showing that the period between January and August was the warmest on record for the lower 48 states and featured the most extreme weather ever recorded.

OT — but time is of the essence here. Anthony Watts(!) of all people, has been invited to appear on the PBS Newshour tonight (9/17).
PBS is doing a grave dis-service to its listeners (and the public at large) by giving a crank like Watts a public platform.
Watts has nothing worthwhile to offer in any sort of serious discussion about climate science. He’s barely worthy of Faux Noise — and PBS is giving him a platform. Arrrgggh!!!
PBS needs to hear from its listeners (especially those who donate to its pledge drives) about this!
Perhaps PBS will skewer him? One can hope.

Methane emissions in Arctic cause climate change catastrophic effect, expert says
Over 200 areas of mass emission of methane can be observed in the Arctic Ocean discovered recently by the Russian expedition onboard Viktor Buinitsky research vessel. As the Arctic regions containing methane get wormer more of this greenhouse gas is released into atmosphere meaning higher temperatures. Scientists worry that this increased warming will result in methane being released more rapidly making it into a snowball effect which will rapidly increase the global climate change. http://english.ruvr.ru/2012_09_17/Methane-emissions-in-Arctic-cause-climate-change-catastrophic-effect-expert-says/
As predicted for at least twenty years, to my recollection. And still nothing is done, as the water literally begins to boil with ebullient gases, right around the brainless frogs. Can it be denied that the powers-that-be must want this to happen. No other explanation makes any sense, not any longer.
Overpopulation, overconsumption, overconsumerism, current western lifestyles will be gone in the future, that is for sure.
New highlights include overexposure to UV radiation (ozone depletion from climate change impacts, over exposure to heat stress, extreme weather and potentially radiation fallout too (frum the global turmoil climate change will unleash).
Just look at the history, almost each big civilization collapsed from climate change. Why should it be different this time?

So we are having record temperatures with conditions approaching an El Nino. What happens when we get an El Nino?
According to the Australian BOM we are approaching El Nino Thresholds not yet in an El Nino.
