"F*ck Science: Why One Man Is Joining Mitt Romney In Climate Denial"

Modern journalism has spawned an entire fact-checking industry. Remarkably, even with the rise of dedicated fact checkers, politicians get away with lying more than ever. So what’s the best way to get people to pay attention to the lies? My personal preference is mockery. I find comedy a very effective tool for pointing out the absurdities in modern politics.

And that’s why I like the new Actually… campaign from actors and comedians like Sarah Silverman, Rosie Perez, Jay Smooth, and W. Kamau Bell (who is featured below).

In the latest installment of the Actually… video series, Bell excitedly explains why he’s so excited about Mitt Romney’s climate denial: “Hmm. Actually I think Mitt might be onto something really big here. He’s the only candidate bold enough to stand up and say what I’ve been feeling for so many years. F*ck you, science!”

Watch it below. And afterward, check out the small-but-budding list of videos here.

  2. Ha!- great. Here is my (possibly) more edgy video on Youtube satirizing climate change denial. Over 5300 views so far (and some correspondence from Kevin Trenberth and Jeff Masters -Weather Underground- and Forecast the Facts to boot.) Enjoy:

That Hitler meme is really funny. I’ve seen it for a bunch of other topics, and it always makes me laugh. This one did as well. However, I’m always worried that skeptics and deniers will think we’re comparing them to Hitler — which is a place I would never want to go!

      • Yes- I considered that as well. So far- about 3 months- hardly anybody seems to have taken it that way. I was counting on the fact that the ridiculousness of the parody would make it clear.

Most comic and sarcastic 5 minutes of my life!!! I must admit that the videos are really funny!! Rosie Perez takes first price! But at the same, a great and REALLY effective way of getting the message across. its both annoying and scary that policy makers in leading countries like the U.S don’t acknowledge the existence and effects of climate change just because its not in their economy’s interest. This year, greenhouse emission in the USA are likely to be over 7,709 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. which is about 19% of the total world GHG emissions! but climate change effects occur equally around the globe. Its unfair that we in Africa, have to deal with prolonged droughts, extreme flooding and heat waves in addition to the socio-economic challenges that are still hunting us in this day and age. so they should really take up their duties, obligations, and responsibilities to mitigate and stop climate change!
