Must-See: Colbert Skewers Wall Street Journal’s Elitist Attack on NY Bike Share

Last week, I wrote about how the Wall Street Journal attacked the “totalitarians” behind the “dreadful” Bike Share program that has “begrimed” NY city.

Sometimes the Jester is just as much of a distraction as the ugly ape-kingthingy he pokes fun of.

It’s too bad Dorothy didn’t say “Let them eat cake” it would have fit with the rest of her chat so well.

Bicycle and personal rapid transit technologies are so simply positively disruptive and completely able to replace cars with much more advanced human mobility solutions . . . one effective strategy has been to ridicule and stigmatize them; another has been to keep the worlds public roads unsafe for anything other than heavily armored extremely inefficient, wasteful, and dangerous vehicles.

The daunting demands of accelerating and rapidly advancing climate change will force humanity, kicking and screaming, to rapid product design development and broad deployment of advanced net zero transport and transit — often deeply integrated with information and communications technologies (ICTs) — much more practical, safe, and efficient than current systems now rapidly accelerating toward the dust bin of history.
