Number Of ‘Problem Banks’ Falls For First Time Since 2006 | According to data released today by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the number of banks identified by regulators as “problem banks” has fallen for the first time since the third quarter of 2006. There were 48 bank failures in the first half of 2011, “far fewer than the 86 failures in the first six months of 2010.”
