Black Unemployment Is The Highest It’s Been In 27 Years | Overlooked among many of the reports on unemployment numbers that came out today is that African American “unemployment surged to 16.7% in August, its highest level since 1984.” Unemployment among white Americans is lower, at 8 percent. CNN illustrates this disparity in the following graph:
