Record Number Of People In Poverty In 2010 | According to new data from the Census Bureau, a record 46.2 million people were in poverty in 2010. The poverty rate climbed to 15.1 percent, the highest since 1993, while real median household income fell 2.3 percent to $49,445. Median income is now lower than it was in 1997.
