The latest Institute for Supply Management index of national factory activity shows that “manufacturing grew at the fastest pace in six months in December, capping a late-year rally in the sector.” Construction spending has also hit its highest level in 18 months. While U.S. manufacturing is on the upswing, the same can not be said for the rest of the world, as both Asia and Europe’s factory activity is trending down.
