"Just 69,000 Jobs Created In May, Unemployment Ticks Up To 8.2 Percent"
According to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy created just 69,000 jobs in May, and the unemployment rate ticked up to 8.2 percent. The private sector created 82,000 jobs, while the public sector lost 13,000 jobs. March’s number was revised down from 154,000 to 143,000 jobs created, while April’s number was revised down from 115,000 jobs created to just 77,000. 42.8 percent of the unemployed have been out of work for at least six months, while the U-6 measure of underemployment increased slightly to 14.8 percent.
