Report: U.S. Lags Behind Leading Economies In Providing Early Childhood Education

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the U.S. lags behind other leading economies in providing early childhood education, ranking “28th out of 38 countries for the share of 4-year-olds enrolled in pre-primary education programs, at 69 percent.” Nations at the top of the list, including France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Mexico, enroll 95 percent of their 4-year-olds in early education. The U.S. also spends significantly less public money on early education than peer nations.
