"Massachusetts House Delegation To Obama: Don’t Cut Medicare And Medicaid"

The entire Massachusetts House delegation has written a letter to President Obama asking him to preserve Medicare and Medicaid and protect “these vital programs from devastating funding cuts” as he negotiations a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling. Obama strongly hinted that he will agree to some cuts, however. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, he said, “We need to see where we can reduce the cost of health care spending and Medicare and Medicaid in the out-years, not by shifting costs on to seniors, as some have proposed, but rather by actually reducing those costs.”
