MAP: 10 States Have Signed Legislation Establishing Health Exchanges

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) offers this handy map showing how far the states have come in implementing the insurance exchanges that are part of the Affordable Care Act. The summary: 38 states and DC have introduced some form of legislation promoting exchange implementation, 10 states enacted such bills into law, 6 states and DC have exchange establishment legislation that remains pending, 16 states failed to pass establishment legislation, 12 states have not introduced legislation, 9 states
are not interested and at least 2 states have either executed an Executive Order establishing an exchange or have moved forward with setting up the exchange within an existing state program.
