CBO Director: Health Reform Won’t Lead Large Numbers Of Employers To Drop Coverage

Douglas Elmendorf told the super committee that he stood by the Congressional Budget Office’s projections that a small number of businesses would stop offering health insurance coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act, undermining GOP claims that millions of Americans with employer-sponsored coverage would lose their coverage:

The CBO estimates that “the number of people obtaining coverage through their employer would be about 3 million lower in 2019 under the legislation” and actuaries at CMS found that just 1.4 million would move out of employer coverage.
