Study: Smoking Cessation Programs Produce $3 In Savings For Every $1 Spent

A new study from George Washington University found that a smoking cessation program in Massachusetts saved three dollars for every dollar spent. The study did not take into account the benefits of avoiding cancer, but did find that individuals who quit smoking produced savings in heart-related hospitalizations. A report released last year by the United Health Foundation found that smoking in the United States decreased by 3.4 percent between 2010 and 2011.
