A key provision of the Affordable Care Act is its expansion of Medicaid to millions of Americans — estimates have shown that Obamacare could allow 17 million Americans to gain health coverage from Medicaid alone. But because the Supreme Court ruled that the federal government cannot take away funds from states that opt out of expansion, it is unclear whether the 17 million Americans eligible for Medicaid will actually gain affordable care. The Center for American Progress’ interactive map “illustrates how people in each state will potentially be affected by their state’s decision.”
