Rep. Gutierrez Arrested Outside White House For Immigration Protest

Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL) was arrested for the second time in two years yesterday for refusing to step away from the White House’s security fence during an immigration protest. Gutierrez was protesting a dysfunctional immigration system that has led the Obama Administration to deport more than 1 million people while congressional Republicans block reform. In a statement regarding his arrest, Gutierrez said, “The President says Republicans are blocking immigration reform and he’s right, but it doesn’t get him off the hook.”
