Even Mr. Secession Fails Tea Party Purity Test | Tea Party heartthrob and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) believes Medicaid, federal public school programs, and clean air regulation are unconstitutional “nonsense.” He even once claimed that Texas might secede from the union unless the federal government does exactly what he wants it to do. Yet he’s now facing a lawsuit because he might have signed a — gasp! — income tax into law.
