"California Inmates End Three-Week Hunger Strike Protesting Prison Conditions"

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced that thousands of prisoners who had been on a hunger strike for the past three weeks would once again resume eating. The strike was a result of prisoners protesting poor conditions and the frequent placement of prisoners in isolation cells. The state plans to review the “cases of all prisoners already in isolation because of ‘validated’ gang affiliation, rather than because of their behavior while in prison.”
