- New York police conducted a midnight raid last night on Occupy Wall Street. According to Mayor Bloomberg, the purpose of the raid is to remove all tents and tarps from the protest site.
- The DC Circuit handed Guantanamo Bay detainees a major loss yesterday, holding that “government intelligence reports will be treated routinely as if they are reliable, even though the data they contain was obtained under questionable circumstances in or near foreign battle zones.”
- In addition to agreeing to hear a more high profile case yesterday, the Supreme Court will also hear a very interesting tax case concerning whether a city may offer tax forgiveness to some taxpayers and not others.
- In a move that surprised no one, no justices recused themselves from the health care case that the Court agreed to hear yesterday.
- Several congressional Democrats are worried that the United States could lose the health care case, not because there is anything in the Constitution or Supreme Court precedent supporting the plaintiffs’ arguments, but because the Supreme Court may follow its most audacious precedent in Bush v. Gore.
