- The Senate will vote today on two ill-conceived balanced budget amendments, including a Senate GOP version that would “throw about 15 million more people out of work, double the unemployment rate from 9 percent to approximately 18 percent, and cause the economy to shrink by about 17 percent instead of growing by an expected 2 percent.”
- The leader of a top Tea Party group says that one of congressional Republicans’ top health care proposals is unconstitutional.
- The ACLU filed a lawsuit yesterday claiming that Wisconsin’s vote suppressing voter ID law is unconstitutional.
- Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), who is rising fast in Iowa caucus polls, reiterates his claim that Medicare is unconstitutional.
- Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus, who infamously lost 14,000 votes in this year’s state supreme court election, claims that she’s been “exonerated” of any charges of wrongdoing. The head of the state’s Government Accountability Board responded sharply: “I would not characterize it that way.“
