Iowa Supreme Court: Gov. Branstad’s Unemployment Office Closures Were Unconstitutional | Late last year, an Iowa trial court held that Gov. Terry Branstad (R) violated the state constitution when he used a line-item veto in an attempt to prevent the legislature from shielding 36 unemployment offices he wanted to close. On Friday, that decision was affirmed by the state supreme court.
