- Even Tea Partying Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) admits that a Voter ID bill that recently passed his state’s legislature has only a “50-50 chance” of surviving scrutiny under the Voting Rights Act. Voter ID laws violate the VRA because they disproportionately disenfranchise minority voters.
- A Missouri court heard arguments on whether conservatives in that state can smuggle Voter ID and other voting restrictions onto the ballot through a misleading description of a ballot initiative.
- The Supreme Court will release same-day audio of the oral arguments in the health care litigation.
- The Minnesota legislature is expected to vote to repeal its members’ immunity from drunk driving laws this week — because the state constitution oddly gives them that immunity during a legislative session.
- An investigation into the prosecution of former Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) finds widespread misconduct and overreach by prosecutors.
