"Concern With Religious Interference In Politics At A Record High"

Americans are growing increasingly wary of the role religion plays in our politics. A new poll by the Pew Research Center shows that 38 percent of Americans think that political leaders are “overdoing it” when it comes to public displays of faith and prayer. That’s the highest figure Pew has ever recorded since it began asking the question more than a decade ago, and up from just 12 percent in 2001. Moreover, this record concern with the politicization of religion comes as many opponents of protecting women’s reproductive health have suggested increasingly audacious — and false — theories of “religious liberty” in an attempt to limit women’s access to contraception.
