The latest Rasmussen survey of voters’ opinions on marijuana laws indicate that 56 percent of the country is in favor of legalization and the implementation of a similar set of regulations that currently govern the sale and usage of alcohol and tobacco. The new poll represents a high water mark for decriminalization advocates. Admittedly, the Republican-leaning Rasmussen polling firm has a questionable record of accuracy, but their results are similar to a Gallup poll from last year that marked the first time a majority of Americans favored legalization. According to the Rasmussen poll, just 36 percent of respondents say they are opposed to such a measure.
