Tea Party Judges David Sentelle and Janice Rogers Brown
- Ben Protess profiles the United States Court of Appeal for the District of Columbia Circuit, which has become Wall Street’s go-to court for when it doesn’t want to have to follow a regulation. Two of that court’s judges, David Sentelle and Janice Rogers Brown, recently joined an opinion suggesting that all labor, business or Wall Street regulation is constitutionally suspect.
- The Washington Supreme Court hears oral arguments today in a case brought by education advocates challenging a state ballot initiative that requires a two-thirds vote or voter referendum in order to raise taxes in that state.
- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) calls a proposed state constitutional amendment to raise the minimum wage in that state “stupid and a “truly ridiculous idea.”
- The Senate confirmed just two of the twenty-one judges currently awaiting confirmation the the Senate floor.
- A federal appeals court heard arguments on whether it should reinstate a portion of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s anti-union law that was struck down.
