Irony Is Dead: Bush Torture Lawyer Claims Obama Violates His Duty To ‘Uphold The Law’ | John Yoo, the Bush Administration lawyer who played a key role in greenlighting that administration’s use of torture, recently published an article claiming that the Obama Administration’s policy of not deporting many DREAM-eligible immigrants violates the president’s duty to “uphold the law.” For the record, federal law provides that “[w]hoever outside the United States commits or attempts to commit torture shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years.”
