- The infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the subject of widespread allegations of racial profiling and anti-immigrant practices who managed to win reelection, wants to have a “man-to-man” with President Obama on immigration policy. But even though he still maintains Obama’s birth certificate is “definitely fraudulent” he promises Obama he “won’t even ask” for it if they meet.
- BP is “expected to pay a record U.S. criminal penalty and plead guilty to criminal misconduct” in a plea deal arising out of the 2010 Gulf oil spill that may be announced as soon as today, according to Reuters.
- A Pennsylvania appeals court says the legislature can’t ban lawsuits for “wrongful birth.”
- The New Hampshire Supreme Court is hearing the first death penalty case in 50 years.
- Fronteras Desk reports on a group of “Banished Veterans” who were deported after serving in the U.S. military, many for minor nonviolent offenses, and are not permitted to return to U.S. soil until their burial.
