Welcome to Justiceline, ThinkProgress Justice’s morning round-up of the latest legal news and developments. Remember to follow us on Twitter at @TPJustice
- Saturday was the 57th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus.
- Legal history professor Paul Finkelman argues that “the third president was a creepy, brutal hypocrite,” pointing to Thomas Jefferson’s horrific treatment of his slaves.
- Meanwhile, law professor David Post reacts to Finkelman by doing his best to demonstrate that libertarianism is a personality disorder.
- New York’s Commission on Judicial Nomination names seven finalists for a seat on that state’s highest court. Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) must select one of these seven to fill a vacancy left by Judge Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick’s retirement.
- If a Supreme Court justice interrupts you a lot, you probably aren’t getting their vote.
- And, finally, there is no fundamental right to Facebook, just in case anyone was unsure about that.
