- Yesterday was the 147th anniversary of the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery — although true racial justice would wait another century until America had a Supreme Court and a Congress committed to fulfilling the Constitution’s promise.
- On a lighter note, Wednesday was also the 79th anniversary of the 21st Amendment. So everyone drink up.
- The Supreme Court wrestled with whether it even has the authority to reverse a lower court decision holding that a multi-national child custody dispute should be resolved in Scotland.
- Federal judges want a raise, and they’ve got a lawsuit to prove it.
- And finally, the First Amendment does not give you a right to send anthrax hoaxes through the mail, just in case anyone didn’t already get that.
