NY County Clerk Resigns To Avoid Issuing Same-Sex Marriage Licenses | A county clerk in Broome County, New York has resigned because she says that same-sex marriage conflicts with her religious beliefs and would “compromise” her “moral conscience.” At least one New York district attorney has said that clerks who refuse to issue licenses to same-sex couples will be “subject to criminal prosecution.” (HT: Towleroad.)
