"North Carolina House Passes Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment, Measure Heads To Senate"
After three hours of debate, the North Carolina General Assembly approved a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage by a vote of 75 to 42. The measure — which was only introduced earlier today — now heads to the Senate. The new version of the amendment would ask voters to prohibit gay and lesbian people from marrying on the May 2012 primary ballot, rather than the November 2012 general election.
