Opponents of marriage equality held a rally in Concord, New Hampshire on Wednesday morning as part of the Family Research Council’s Values Voters bus tour. GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum spoke at the event as did FRC President Tony Perkins, who tried to blame gay people for the economic downturn. “You want to get the economy going again? We need to put a focus on marriage and on children, because that is our future,” Perkins said. “Look at the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and growing the GDP – we’ll never grow the GDP with a shrinking population.” The group also tried to build support for repealing the state’s same-sex marriage law, which the legislature is expected to take up in the next session.
