Anti-Gay North Carolina Senator James Forrester Dead At 74 | North Carolina state Sen. James Forrester (R) has died at the age of 74. Forrester was one of the leading proponents of North Carolina’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, which will be on the ballot in May. He had described Ashville as a “cesspool of sin” for its high concentration of LGBT residents and argued that gay people’s “lifestyle” decreased their lifespan by 20 years, claims he couldn’t defend.
