Before adopting his current anti-gay stance Mitt Romney had a mixed record on gay rights. During his failed 1994 campaign for the Senate Romney, he told the Log Cabin Republicans, “We must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern,” promised to co-sponsor a federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and claimed he would do more for the gay community than the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. In 2003, Romney even cut a campaign ad for then-Salt Lake City mayor Rocky Anderson, who had supported full marriage equality since 1996. Watch Romney endorse Anderson:
