Dana Peterson has filed suit for being repeatedly denied the opportunity to complete the certification course to become a K-9 handler, after paying for the training at her own expense. Meanwhile, coworkers have left her obscene drawings in public spaces, referred to her as “it,” and ostracized her from the force. Connecticut offers employment non-discrimination protections based on gender identity, which will hopefully allow Peterson to achieve her career goals when her case is heard later this month.
