The majority of “Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Catholics, Protestants, weekly churchgoers, and even born again Christians” support extending federal employment protections to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, a new Human Rights Campaign (HRC) poll finds. Seventy-seven percent of responds support the protections, including “70 percent of self-identified Republicans and 67 percent of conservatives support anti-discrimination laws.” A majority also falsely believe that such a law already exists.
