President Obama Congratulates Same-Sex Couple’s Marriage | President Obama seems to have sent a note to Matt Katz and his husband Aaron congratulating them for marrying in New York five months ago. White House protocol is to send a congratulatory note if it receives an invitation or announcement, but the couple did not submit anything. In the note, Obama tells the couple, “Your union marks the beginning of a lifelong partnership as you share in the joys of your life together.”
