"New York City Marriage Rate Increases 14 Percent"

According to the New York City Clerk’s Office, the city handed out 14 percent more marriage licenses during the second half of 2011 after legislators legalized marriage equality in June. The obvious explanation seems to be that same-sex couples were taking advantage of the state’s new marriage law, bringing added tourism and revenue to the city.
