The Uganda State Minister for Ethics and Integrity has shut down a secret gay rights conference. Minister Simon Lotodo, a defrocked priest, informed the 30 participants, “I have closed this conference because it’s illegal. We do not accept homosexuality in Uganda. So go back home.” As Joe.My. God. and Box Turtle Bulletin point out, there are conflicting reports as to whether the organizer of the conference escaped or was arrested. Uganda’s Parliament recently reintroduced the “Kill The Gays” bill, which would allow the death penalty as punishment for homosexuality.
