Troy, Michigan’s Anti-Gay Mayor Laughs It Up With Santorum | Janice Daniels, the controversial mayor of Troy, Michigan who may be facing a recall over her anti-gay remarks and beliefs, appeared at Rick Santorum’s Michigan Faith and Freedom Coalition Road to Victory Rally this afternoon and all but endorsed the homophobic candidate. “If I had a key to the city, I would give one to you but the city’s budget is lower this year,” she said to great applause and laughter, before asking Santorum about his youngest daughter Bella. When it comes to LGBT issues, Daniels and Santorum are likely two peas in a pod. The mayor has previously said that she is “going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there” and explained to a group of gay high school student that the “homosexual lifestyle is dangerous.” Santorum has compared gay relationships to bestiality and has promised to annul all same-sex marriages.
