Maryland Senate Committee Advances Marriage Equality | Today the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee advanced marriage equality legislation with a vote of 7-4. Though last week’s House vote was a squeaker, the bill is expected to sail smoothly through the Senate this week, which also passed it last year. Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) has promised to sign the bill, but it will likely have to survive a referendum before it becomes law.
