Russian Orthodox Church Seeks National Ban On ‘Homosexual Propaganda’

Officials of the Russian Orthodox Church are so pleased with St. Petersburg’s new law banning “gay propaganda” that they want to implement such a law throughout all of Russia. The new provision imposes fines of up to $16,000 on individuals and up to $160,000 on legal entities that promote LGBT issues to minors, and similar laws already exist in the┬áRyazan, Arkhangelsk, and Kostroma regions. Russian Orthodox priest Dimitri Pershin claims the law will “help protect children” from sexual minorities who “rally near children’s establishments.”
