Nashville Councilman Lobbies Tennessee Legislature For Non-discrimination Protections | Last year, the Tennessee legislature passed a bill that prohibited municipalities from protecting the LGBT community from discrimination in employment, which in turn nullified such protections Nashville had extended. An effort is underway to repeal that law, and yesterday, Nashville Councilman Anthony Davis testified before the State Senate’s State & Local Government Committee in favor of that repeal, explaining how businesses benefit when they don’t discriminate.
