Hockey Fans Cheer Lesbian Marriage Proposal On The Ice | At Saturday night’s hockey game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators, Alicia was led out onto the ice during the second intermission, blindfolded. On the big screen it read, “My love for you is a journey, starting at forever and ending at never. You’re my world. Zing XOX.” Christina appeared behind her, embraced her, then got down on one knee and proposed. The crowd went wild as the Senators mascot held up a sign that read “SHE SAID YES.” In a country that has had marriage equality for eight years, it was perhaps just another hockey proposal, but it represents a celebration many American couples still cannot imagine for themselves.
