The Montgomery County Board of Education Policy Committee has responded to the controversy surrounding one group’s campaign to distribute fliers about ex-gay therapy to middle and high school students by recommending that nonprofits no longer be allowed to hand out literature in the schools. That group, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) — sent fliers to students in seven schools just last week — prompting a pro-equality organization Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) to hand out affirming literature.
