Julian Bond: Obama Gave ‘Permission’ For Others To Embrace Marriage Equality | On Saturday, former NAACP chairman Julian Bond spoke out about the organization’s embrace of marriage equality. He argued that President Obama brought the issue “to the fore… in effect giving people permission to talk about it and to think about it in ways they had not.” Bond was unconcerned that support for the President or the NAACP could suffer because of the endorsement.
