Zimbabwe To Maintain Criminalization Of Homosexuality

During a visit by United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, Zimbabwe’s justice minister, Patrick Chinamasa, said the country will continue to persecute people who engage in same-sex relations. Last week, a local government minister called on traditional chiefs to banish “people who support homosexuality” from their communities and take away their land. In November, President Robert Mugabe asserted that homosexuals will be punished for their behavior in accordance with “African and Christian values.”
