LGBT issues have always been incorporated into the progressive discussions that take place at Netroots Nation, but for the first time ever, a panel specifically addressed transgender equality. The panel featured trans bloggers Autumn Sandeen (Pam’s House Blend), Jos Truitt (Feministing), and Monica Roberts (TransGriot), as well as legal expert Jennifer Levi (Transgender Rights Project/GLAD) and moderator Dr. Jillian Weiss (The Bilerico Project). It’s worth taking some time to listen to these trans voices speak articulately about the challenges their community faces with violence, discrimination, and visibility:
